Flowers bring nature into your home. In the Dutch Golden Age, people made a big deal of it. Tulips were unaffordable in the 1930s. If you had a smaller purse then a painting was an alternative and so the first flower paintings were created. The tulip craze of the seventeenth century passed but the love of flowers remained.
